A new craze among the mob has been spotted since the first news of Tesla opening in Karnataka was released.
Since then every mouth has been uttering the same words that when will Tesla arrive in India?
When will Tesla Arrive in India?
CM Yediyurappa on Saturday said that Tesla will be soon setting up its first manufacturing unit in Bengaluru.
The factory will be based near the Tumkur district which is all set to become an industrial corridor in Karnataka.
The Chief Minister also said that this initiative will create at least 2.8lac job opportunities for aspiring graduates looking for a good job.
Which Model to be Released First?
Though the company hasn't released any official statement yet, some sources say Tesla is likely to begin with Modal 3 which seems obvious since this is the cheapest model offered by the company.
The Tesla Modal 3 has a battery capacity of 55 to 60 kWh and has a top speed of 260km/h.
Pricing:
But in terms of price even Modal 3 can make deep holes in your pocket.
The car will be totally built outside and imported to our country. Hence, due to high import duties for a comparison, an average piece that costs about 27 lac rupees in the US will now cost double i.e. about 55 lac rupees in India.
But since Tesla will be soon setting up its manufacturing unit within India, there will be a sharp drop in the price of the cars in the near future.
And by taking advantage of various government schemes like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, Tesla can reduce its manufacturing costs to a great extent.
India is all set to achieve its target to become the No.1 country for the production of Lithium-Ion batteries.
Various policies are now being framed to make this dream a reality.
Tesla has made a smart move by setting up its factory within the country and is also planning to expand.
The government of India has also committed that by 2030 at least 30% of the vehicles that run on a day to day basis are electric. In figures, this roughly means at least 2.5 crores of EVs.
