Highlights of Nithin Gadkari's Speech at 'Go Electric' Campaign 2021

The Minister of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari on 19th Feb 2021 while addressing the 'Go Electric' campaign announced that India has to import oil and fossil fuel worth Rs.8 Lac Crores every year.

With the supply of oil reduced to half its quantity in the coming 4-5 years, the import price would be a huge obstacle and reason for hindering the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' mission.

He stated that the current time is the peak time for switching from fossil fuels to alternative sources.

Out of all possible alternatives, the electric source of energy turns out to be the best. The primary benefits include low cost, pollution-free, and indigenous.

He stated that India requires low-cost, pollution-free, and indigenous methods that have the potential to replace the current mode of transport that runs largely on fossil fuel.

The minister also stressed the usage of electrical means to cook food rather than the traditional petroleum gas.

Shri Nitin Gadkari's Mission is to make India a 'Manufacturing Superpower' by 2025.

The Transport Minister through his speech encouraged the use of electric vehicles.

Billion Dollar Companies like Tesla are now stepping up their reach to India.

Highlights:

1. If the pace at which the steady introduction of electric busses, scooters, trucks, and even tractors into the existing ecosystem is maintained, then within a span of 2 years the price per kilometer for petroleum two-wheelers, four-wheelers, rickshaws, shall become almost the same.

2. If 10,000 electric vehicles are brought into use in Delhi, then approximately Rs.32 Crore can be saved every month.

The use of electric vehicles in Delhi will also improve its Air-Quality Index of the city minimizing air pollution.

3. Very soon he will make it mandatory for all the officials in his department to use Electric Vehicles.

4. The campaign was launched to spread awareness about the benefits of the use of Electric Vehicles over Fossil Fuel-powered vehicles and EVs Infrastructure.
